- Control reservoir for whole Dadu River basin
Pubugou hydropower station is located on the middle reach of Dadu River in Hanyuan and Ganluo in Sichuan Province, and the catchment area makes up 88.5% of whole Dadu River basin. It is a multi-purpose project for power generation, cascade balancing, flood control and sediment retaining. The total installed capacity is 3600 MW, rockfill dam height is 186m, firm output is 926MW, and annual average power output is 14580GWh. PUBUGOU is the national key project under “the tenth-5-year-plan” policy in China. The first unit of the project was commenced in October 2002, and river closure was completed on November 22, 2005. The first unit was put into commission in December 2009, and by the end of 2010, all 6 units were put into operation.
